UGH! I find the self righteous belief that their way is the only way sickening. We live in a country founded on a belief of religious freedom. This place is melting pot, which should have tolerance for the diversity of other cultures. Our forefathers had the wisdom to see that government shouldn't dictate what you believe, yet we as a people can't seem to grasp that concept still.
Why do we continue to insist that our way is the only way and share that concept continually. Maybe the person saying Happy Holidays wants to be inclusive of all beliefs. Is that so bad? Maybe you want to share your belief and blessing of your own philosophy, that's cool to. I'm not going to tell you go away because you say Merry Christmas. I'll take it as a season greeting of good will, just as I would a greeting of Happy Hanukkah, Happy Solstice, Kwanzaa, etc.
Perhaps the message of the holiday season should be one of tolerance. Most religions celebrate the spreading of goodwill. I think we need more of that, and less of my way is the right way. Take the blessings and good wishes from others as what they are, and say what you wish without belittling another's right to say what they want. Grant them the same right your clearly advocating for.
