There are so many different options when considering your fairy garden. There are plant considerations, decorations, and container or outdoor. My personal desire was to have some utilitarian use and year round enjoyment. So for my garden I chose to plant cooking herbs to grow. Since it is to be year round, it must be indoors with my climate. Rather than spending a bunch of money on a pot to put it in, I looked around my house to locate something I could use that I already had. In my case, I had an old crock from a crockpot that had broken a few years ago. This made the perfect vessel for my garden.
Next, I had to decide what to put in my garden. There are a lot of different ideas around the web if you don't have any ideas to begin with. I found Amazon to be great source of inspiration for ideas. I even formed a list of all the products that inspired me and it gave me some good ideas of things I may want to make. I also went to the craft store to look around and purchase some things that I didn't feel like making. The nice thing about a fairy garden is its all about your imagination. You can make it however you want, and craft or purchase your items. I loved walking through all the aisles of the store and imaging what I could do with various materials and not paying much mind to what their original purpose was intended. So here's what I ended up with.
We have plans for the summer to build an outdoor garden as well for our fairy friends who may come out of the woods around our house to stop for a bit of tea. Pictures will follow when we finally get weather nice enough to make it.
